Good Plastic Gone Bad

Captain America (Mexican Style)

September 8th, 2009 · 4 Comments · Misc. Bootlegs, Superheroes

Here’s another one of my Mexican bootleg figures. I have to tell you, when the toy makers in Mexico decide to make a figure, they either miss the mark completely or come up with something that isn’t too bad.

This one falls into the category of isn’t too bad.

Now this Captain America might already have been posted to the old site. But hey, this go ’round, the pics are gonna be a tad better. So this figure was packaged in a plastic baggie. I kid you not. It’s a baggie that I found Captain America in. It wasn’t even a zip lock bag to keep the freshness in.  I dig the costumer and especially dig the shield.

Captain America looks better in the pic above, no? Yes ladies and gents, the shield can be attached to the hand. It’s actually pretty darn good fit too! I couldn’t shake the shield off no matter how hard I tried. Believe me, I tried really hard. Heh, just kidding. I didn’t bother cuz the shield is as snug as a bug in a run on bootleg Captain America’s hand.
I gotta give the Mexican bootleg toy makers credit for actually putting a star and stripes on this guy. Sure they gave it their own twist. But at least they tried to get points for efort.

What would a bootleg toy review be without a shot of Captain America’s behind, I mean, backside. The figure actually looks much buffer from this angle than from the front. It must be those massive thighs.

Dang! The bootleg toy makers even got the eyes the right color. It’s not too often you see a bootleg toy with eyes that aren’t black. But old Cap has his baby blues going on! Of course, the bootleg toy makers didn’t bother to paint his lips a nice red color. Considering they had red paint available, that’s a complete bootleg toy tragedy.

This figure is actually made out of some pretty darn solid plastic. I wouldn’t expect this thing to fall apart too quickly. Yeah, the paint job’s whack! But if for anybody who makes their own custom figures, this one would probably be a good candidate for customization.
Oh yeah, bootleg Captain America  stands about a shade over seven inches tall. I wasn’t kidding when I said this guy is made of solid plastic. The figure is actually pretty heavy. I could do curls with him and build up my biceps if I was so inclined.

Woah! Ya know, the way Cap’s star and banner waves over to the viewer’s left – I think whoever did this toy might be on to something: a kick-ass redesign of the suite!

I dunno about that shield, though.

I’d love to stumble accross some of these so that I could see them in person.

OMG.You are TERRIBLE.What do you think you are doing?Impersonating every one of theese toy creators.Bandi should be contaced for this nosense you are doing and creating.Buffy the vampire slayer`s creators should be contaced also.Who do you think you are? This is just CRAZY.And some aren`t even good bootlegs,as in the Salior Moon.Just terrible.I will be trying my hardest to contact each and everyone of theese creators. And also one of the pink Power Rangers, you are takeing credit for isn`t a knock off at all.So really you can`t take credit for it because it`s not a kncok off.And we don`t think it`s cute nor funny that you make knock off toys.So thankyou ,for letting people express their feelings.Thankyou.And may God bless you. @ Jaeda…
You’re joking right? You think I’m making these? Well, you FAIL. These are toys that I buy. As a matter of fact, this site should be considered as a warning of what is out there that you should not be buying.
In my opinion friend, you are not the sharpest knife in the kitchen.
