Silverbat: Batman Meets The Lone Ranger

December 25th, 2008 · 5 Comments · Batman, Superheroes

Well, I’ve got tons of bootleg toys. But I wanted to start this relaunch with one my oldest and most favorite bootleg toys.  Yeah, yeah yeah, this toy’s on the old site. So if you’ve seen this before, well, too bad. You gotta see it again.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you…. Silverbat.

Now I can’t tell you how long I’ve had Silverbat. It’s gotta be years and years. Batman on a horse.  I’ve got plenty of other bootleg Batman toys where Batman is riding a horse (and for some reason, the bootleggers like to put Spider-Man on a motorcycle. But that’s a tale for another time). But as far as I’m concerned, this one’s a classic.

The side of the box shows that Silverbat’s horsie prances. I’ve stuck batteries in this thing, but never managed to get the horse to prance. Batman’s right arm is loose and not firmly placed in the socket. So I couldn’t tell you if his arm ever moved as shown in the pic.

Here are a couple more shots of Silverbat. Yeah, that’s a towel I used for the backdrop. Come on folks, this is a low budget site. I mean, if I can’t afford the real toys, you don’t expect to see some professional type of photography, do ya?
Anyways, this thing is pretty good sized and well, I’d like to say it’s well constructed, but it’s not. I’m sure the five or so bucks I paid for this toy way back when was quite a bargain.

I want it! Man, Silverbat looks great! Where in the world did you find this thing?

I’ve got one in my collection but the red cape is missing. I’ve seen it on E-bay once but that was three years ago. I got mine in a toy store in Sweden (I’m Swedish) but I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

Well, it’s nice to know somebody else out there has one of these. I found mine in the states. I wonder what kind of trip these toys made to make it to various parts of the world?
