Water Shooting Spidey

July 24th, 2009 · 9 Comments · Spider-Man, Superheroes

I debated long and hard about buying this bootleg toy. I remember because the shopkeeper was asking for eight bucks for it and he wouldn’t budge on the price.
But one day I came in and his wife(?) was behind the counter. So I manged to snag this thing for six bucks!
Hah! Take that old man!

Excuse the first two crummy photos. N0 matter what I did, I couldn’t get a decent shot of this thing.

For a bootleg toy, this is  pretty impressive looking package if you ask me.Plenty of photos and text all over this thing. The box is actually well constructed and if you aren’t paying close attention (where are the copyrights and toy company name?), you could be fooled into thinking this is the real deal.
Honestly, I can’t stress how well made the box this is. By the way, the text in that blue blurb in front of the Spidey photo on the lower right front of the package reads “SUPER LIGHT & SOUND” Boy is it super too (note, my super is not capitalized)

Dang! This is pretty freaking awesome for a bootleg toy! The black Spider-Man with some golden eyes and spidey logo. What’s that? The spider’s head on the logo is a (gasp!) LED. Where ever did the bootleg toy makers come up with that idea?

Seriously folks, I can’t stress how dang cool this figure is. I haven’t bothered to check if this an actual bootleg of a real toy or not. But if it isn’t, then the bootleg toy makers came up with something that no kid could pass up. A Spider-Man figure that shoots water out of his weapons.

While the packaging is pretty cool, the text on the back is kind of descriptive. Here’s a mishmash of what’s on the back of the box…

I guess I don’t need to tell you how tall this figure is, do I? By the way, this figure also comes in RED. But I bought the black figure simply because I don’t have too many Black Spider-Man bootleg toys.

Well, the package does say this thing has SUPER LIGHT AND SOUND. So I would feel bad if I didn’t share with you just how super the light and sound really is. Here’s a vid for you to enjoy.

The figure looks well made for be a bootleg, the sounds are classic, it remind me of those laser guns from the late 80’s/early 90’s

Holy crap, now that’s a slick-looking bootleg! I remember in the early 90s that I had a keychain I got out of a gumball machine that made exactly all those sounds.

Hey, how do you get your videos to be so crystal clear!? My toy-customizing guides lose a lot of quality when I upload them to photobucket 🙁

I used to have one of those grabbing arm toys that made all of the sounds that Squirtin’ Spidey does!

At least it doesn’t have the “FIRE! FIRE! BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG” sound.

randomly found your site, just wanted to say my old plastic raygun from the early nineties made the same EXACT sounds, right down to the order of them, only it wasn’t a bootleg. Coincidence? I think not.
