The Power Slayer

January 27th, 2009 · 8 Comments · Misc. Bootlegs, TV Show

Back! By Popular Demand! For all four of you who asked! My sexiest bootleg toy series.

The Power Slayer

The following bootleg toys, I feel should come with some kind of warning or rating cuz they are just too sexy! This set is on the old site. When I first posted them, I got alot of emails asking if I had extras that I would be willing to sell (I didn’t and wouldn’t have even if I did). I hope it was because Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a popular show and not because there were some pretty lonely guys out there.

So, I dug these up cuz a few visitors mentioned this bootleg toy series as one that should be revisited and rephotographed.

I went out into the garage the other day to look for my Robert Cop 3 bootleg toy of Robocop. I want to do a new review of that bootleg toy. When lo and behold, I stumbled across The Power Slayer figures. As soon as I dug up three of the figures, I left the garage knowing that I was going to fill be able to fill a bootleg toy request for some of you visitors who’ve asked for me to revisit this bootleg toy series. Of course, imagine my shock when I discovered that I actually have four figures. I left one behind. I guess that figure will just have to wait until I stumble across it before it can shine in the light again.
By the way, thanks for all the kind words some of you have left me. Most especially to you out there who used to visit the site before it disappeared. It’s nice to know that people out there actually enjoyed my small contribution to the ‘net back then. How did some of you find this site anyways? I’m always curious to know how people manage to make their way here.

So anyways, let’s move on to the figures (and I do mean figures)

All right, so what have we got? Well, it’s pretty obvious that these figures are supposed to be based on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Is that Sarah Michelle Gellar’s face on the card? By the way, the card measures about 12″x8″. The figures are packaged on some pretty flimsy cardboard. Now that I’ve had these things a few years, the glue holding the bubble is starting to give and no longer ’sticks’ to the card as firmly as it used to.
But who cares about the packaging, right?
Here, take a peek at these things. All the figures are based on the same mold. The bootleg toy makers just painted the figures differently.

Do you think she looks like Sarah Michelle Gellar?

I kind of like the look of this figure. I think it’s the flames the bootleg toy makers put on the shorts. Yummm!

I feel like I should be tossing beads at the figure below. I mean, come on….! All the bootleg toy makers forgot to do was add a little detail to complete this figure.

For anybody who didn’t get the beads reference, it’s kind of a tradition in some party places (like New Orleans) for guys to offer a necklace of beads to women who are willing to bare their tops.

Okay folks, there you have it! The sexiest six and a half inch tall bootleg toys in my collection. These things were sent to me from England. I never heard any reports of this bootleg toy set showing up here in the USA. Which I’m not sure is a sad thing or not.

Heh, you people have no idea how many times I had to retype or just plain old delete some of the comments I made for this review. Rather than go for the obvious laugh, I opted to keep things clean just in case younger people came across this review.

when my mom was a kid her grandma used to go to Nawlins during marti grai and bring home oodles and oodles of these bead necklaces… but this was coming from the great granny whom in salt lake and designed sleazy underwear for mormon women… and great granny wasn’t a spring chicken at the time… *shudder*

I hope it was because Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a popular show and not because there were some pretty lonely guys out there.

It probably had to do with a little of both! ;)

I hadn’t realized just how much boob that third one was showing from the original shots on the site — that just makes the Cutie Honey connection even stronger.

Incidentally, the toon illustration on the front of the packaging (Buffy with a stake in one hand and energy coming out of the other hand) is ripped off from the original Dark Horse BUFFY comic.

Specifically, from this issue: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: ANGEL #1 (May 1999).

Awesome! I figured the art was stolen from a comic, but never bothered to try finding out where. Did the bootleggers add the energy coming out of her hand?
Thanks so much for that cool info.

    The last Buffy? She’s totally based off of the anime Cutey Honey;

There are hundreds of bootlegs in my country, but never expected to see one like this.
